Atsu, Ayew Shortlisted for African Best Award

imagesGhana Black star duo of Andre Dede Ayew and Christian Atsu, have been shortlisted for the 2015 Confederation of African Football (CAF) African footballer of the year award.

Both Atsu and Dede were instrumental in this year’s African Nation cup (AFCON) tournament in Equatorial Guinea where they lost the trophy to Ivory Coast on penalties.

The Ghanaian duo were listed among other top 35 players from Africa, with North Africa countries leading the list with six players and Nigeria with two respectively.

AFCON winners Ivory Coast have three players with last year winner Yaya Toure, leading the charge.

with four weeks absent from the French league Andre Ayew, was able to score 14 goals for Marseille as a midfielder and has been in good shape for Swansea city since joining them in the summer scoring four goals and provided three assist.

Christian Atsu VitesseAtsu, on the other hand was listed mainly on the performance he exhibited at the AFCON where he helped Ghana come second behind the Ivorians.

The Bournemouth winger was adjudged the player of the tournament and also the best goal of the tournament with a long drive against Guinea in the quarter final.

The list will be reduce to 5 and then 3 before the winner is announced.
