Kumasi Asante Kotoko has dropped hints of terminating the contract of striker Ahmed Toure, for lack of commitment to the club.
Toure ditched Kotoko’s bitter rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak to sign a two year deal with the Porcupine Warriors last season to mark his second coming to the team after a successful stint with them some years ago.
The 28 year old striker who still has a year left on his current contract had successful stint with Kotoko last season where he emerged as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals in all competition.
Management member, Edmund Ackah confirmed to Accra based radio station, Happy fm, yesterday, that the club was unhappy with Toure’s behaviour and has been questioned about his commitment to the club.
He confirmed reports filtering from the team’s camp that indicates the club had met with the player on the issue but are yet to take a decision on the matter, pointing out that the likely destination may be a decision to mutually terminate the deal.
The 28 year old Ivorian and Burkinabe striker who gained a call up into the Burkina Faso national team last year was confirmed by Deputy Team Manager of the club, Godwin Ablordey, on Nhyira fm to have arrived in the Garden City after having trials in France and UAE.
But his failure to report to the club’s camp seemed to have triggered the latest controversy of truancy which have often characterized the career of Toure and management would soon announce the decision to terminate the deal to allow him pursue other dreams.
The Reds have been busy in pre-season as David Duncan tries to put the team in shape for the upcoming season.
That has seen them honour a number of friendly games, the last being the international friendly against Serbia Super League strugglers, Jagodina which they defeated 5-0 on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Despite been in town, Toure as stayed away from the preparations, obviously fuelling reports that the once danger man of the club wanted a way out without the usual storm.
This will be the second time Toure, will be having issues of commitment with the team after he left the club on a sour note in his first stint.
