Asante Kotoko crowns birthday with a win over Hearts of Oak

Kumasi Asante Kotoko crowned their 83rd birthday by defeating their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 2-0 in the return leg of the Super 2 game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Striker Obed Owusu scored for the opener Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the 70th minute after a break before speedster Emmanuel Gyamfi doubled the lead 7 minutes from time.

The Phobians dictated the pace of the game in the first half but the resolute Kotoko defense pair of Wahab Adams and Agyemang Badu stood on their grounds to prevent the likes of Patrick Razak and Kojo Obeng junior who were leading the Hearts of Oak attack.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin after analyzing the game made two quick changes by bring on eventual goal scorers Obed Owusu and Emmanuel Gyamfi at the begining of the second half.

This results means Kumasi Asante Kotoko wins this years organized “Super 2” clash on 4-0 aggregate after two legs which was both played in the Ashanti Regional capital.
