C K Akunnor gets first Asante Kotoko win after Save African Child defeat

 

C K Akunnor got his first win as an Asante Kotoko coach with a 3-1 victory over Burkinabe side Save African Child FC in a friendly game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Akunnor made changes to the team that face the Black Stars on Friday with the likes of Obed Owusu, Sougne Yacouba, Jordan Opoku, Captain Amos Frimpong and among others players dropping to the bench.

The visitors drew the first blood with a 3rd minute goal from Austin Uzo after winning a challenge from Emmanuel Owusu before lobing the ball over the on-rushing Osei Kwame.

SAC held on to their lead till the 20th minute when an Agyemang Badu’s shot deflected into the net to give the Porcupine Warriors an equalizer.

Forward Frederick Boateng got the Reds their second gaol of the day when he latched on to Augustine Sefa’s pass before hitting into the middle of the post ending the first half 2-1 in favor of Kotoko.

The second half began with both club’s looking for a goal but it was the Kotoko whose efforts yielded fruit when Kwame Bonsu’s shot once again deflected into the net by Amos Benedict.
