Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated Ebusua Dwarfs by 1 – 0 at the Cape Coast Stadium in the week 20 Ghana Premier League game played on Wednesday afternoon.
Baba Mahama’s 31st minute goal handed Kotoko a win over Dwarfs who had vowed to beat the Porcupines in the said game played at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The former Techiman City midfielder Baba Mahama excellently placed the ball at the lower left corner of the net after receiving a ball from Emmanuel Gyamfi on the right side of the attack to put the Reds in the lead.
Dwarfs put up a lot of effort to cancel the lead back into the second half but failed to break through the strong defense of the Porcupine Warriors who were bent on winning the game.
Wednesday’s win also narrowed the gap between Kotoko and third placed Accra Hearts of Oak to one point and that of second-placed Aduana Stars to five points with ten matches left.
Kotoko’s next league game will be at home to Medeama on July 9 as they eye another win to keep the chase on their opponents at the top.
In the matches played, Ashgold defeated Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium by a lone goal whiles Aduana Stars also beat Great Olympics by 1 – 0 with Inter Allies beating Bechem United by a goal to zero at the El Wak Stadium.
WAFA maintained their stay at the top of the league with last minute win over Elmina Sharks at the Sogakope Park. Wa All Stars drew one all with Tema Youth at the Malik Jabir Park in WA whiles Liberty beat Bolga All Stars by 3 – 0 at the Karl Reindoff Park in Dansoman.
