Afriyie Acquah will not be joining Birmingham City according to sources close to the player.
The midfielder will remain with Torino despite Blues’ pursuit and Harry Redknapp’s public admiration of the player.
Indeed when he returns from international duty with Ghana Acquah is set to open talks on a new contract with the Serie A outfit.
The news is a further set-back for Blues in their search for more options in the centre of the park – and comes following the failure to obtain a work permit for Ogenyi Onazi.
Blues have been in talks with Torino for several weeks and reports suggested the 25-year-old was keen on the move.
However, the Turin-based outfit were reluctant vendors and with the fee somewhere in the region of €10m sources says the move has broken down.
