Mayweather v McGregor: Chaos at media event in Las Vegas

Boxing
The opening event of a week of build-up to potentially the most lucrative fight in boxing history produced chaotic scenes in Las Vegas, with Floyd Mayweather booed by unhappy fans. The undefeated American arrived and was barely visible, entering amid a large entourage before being largely hidden on stage by a media scrum. Conor McGregor, his UFC champion challenger, then arrived and made a beeline for an Irish flag in the crowd before performing an impromptu lap of fans, as media and security gave chase. Once on stage, the 29-year-old Irishman said he would be "calm and cold" when he met the former five-weight boxing world champion on Saturday. "He needs to be put to sleep," said McGregor. "He will wake up a better man. I am going to do that for him." This was hype and showm...

Wladimir Klitschko retires and will not fight Anthony Joshua in rematch

Boxing
Former heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko has retired from boxing - ruling out a rematch with Britain's Anthony Joshua. The Ukrainian, 41, was knocked out in the 11th round by current champion Joshua at Wembley Stadium in April. Joshua, 27, had hoped Klitschko would sign his rematch clause for a proposed fight in Las Vegas on 11 November. "I have achieved everything I dreamed of, and now I want to start my second career after sports," said Klitschko. The two-time former champion, who held the unified title from 2006-2015 before losing to Joshua's fellow Briton Tyson Fury, ends his career with a record of 64 wins and five defeats. "I would have never imagined that I would have such a long and incredibly successful boxing career," he added. Joshua must now face m...

Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor: Tickets on StubHub for $150,000

Boxing
It is being billed as the biggest (and possibly richest) fight in combat sports history - and tickets are on sale at eye-watering prices. When former five-weight boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight title-holder Conor McGregor step into the ring at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 26 August, some 20,000 people will be in the arena. The scrap for tickets during Monday's release was intense, short-lived and disappointing for the majority. But will anyone be willing to shell out $150,000 (£115,000) to be there? Ticket resale website StubHub has tickets on sale at that price, with several others at a comparatively cheap $100,000 (£75,000). American Mayweather, 40, will come out of retirement to face McGregor in the 29-year-old Irishman's first professional b

Dogboe showed his intentions of getting a knock out right from the first minute when he attacked his opponent with some heavy punches. He eventually got what he wanted when Javier Chacon could not continue again in the sixth round. Despite coming into the game with high hopes of a win, the South American could not stand the detemined young chap who came into the ring just to get the job done earlier than expected. Constant punches flying from every angle of the ring by the former Olympian was too much for Chacon and had to bow to the little lad. Coming into this game, Dogboe ni...

Anthony Joshua produced the performance of his career to add the WBA world heavyweight title to his IBF crown with an enthralling knockout win over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium. A post-war record 90,000 fans at the national stadium were treated to a see-saw contest, Joshua dropping the former unified world champion in the fifth round, before being put down - for the first time in his 19-fight career - in the sixth.
