Essam El Hadary awarded best goalkeeper in AFCON

Veteran Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary has won the best keeper award title in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hadary won the title for the fourth time after previous successes in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

The 44-year-old keeper conceded three goals in the tournament and also broke the record of the longest run without conceding a goal in the competition maintaining a clean sheet over 675 minutes in two Nations Cups before being beaten by a goal from Burkina Faso’s Aristide Bance in the semi-finals.

The Former Al Ahly shot stopper is also the oldest player to play in the AFCON at the age of 44.
