Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak will renew their age-old rivalry when they lock horns in this year’s President Cup game slated for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The game scheduled for Sunday afternoon will see the two giants come together to battle it out for the real champions of Ghana football.
Hearts of Oak is eyeing a third victory over over their fierce rivals after previously beating them twice this season both at the Accra Sports Stadium in the league and the Ghana @60 game.
However Kotoko led by English Coach Steve Pollack will also be looking to redeem themselves come Sunday with a victory over the Phobians to appease their fans who have witness two defeats this season.
Kotoko lifted the trophy last season after beating Hearts on penalties at the Accra Sports Stadium and have vowed to do everything possible to win it back to back.
After a dififcult start in the season, the Reds seem to have rediscovered their lost form with wins over Wa All Stars at home and an away win over Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast last Wednesday.
Hearts on the other hand despite their shocking defeat to struggling Ashantigold at home on Wednesday believes they can pick themselves up and produce a good performance on Sunday.
Coach Frank Nuttal of Hearts of Oak is optimistic the Phobians will carry the day after the final whistle.
