Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2016/17 Ghana Premier League opener started on a good note by beating Liberty Professionals 2-1 at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.
The Reds came from a goal down to beat the Scientific Soccer lads after Benjamin Eshun had put them in front.
Eshun received a pass in the half of the Porcupine Warriors after Seth Opare lost the ball in the midfield before lifting it past goalkeeper Felix Annan to put the Dansoman based side in the lead.
Kotoko came close to cancelling the lead but Eric Donkor’s shot was pushed over the bar the goalkeeper for a corner kick.
Back from recess, striker Mohammed Yakubu leveled in the 56th minutes for Kotoko through a penalty after Emmanuel Gyamfi was fouled in the box before adding another five minutes later to win the day for Asante Kotoko.
Coach Zradvsko Lugarosic had to make two changes in the first half after players Obed Owusu and skipper Amos Frimpong picked up an injury.
The Porcupines will now concentrate on their next GPL game after pocketing their first three points in the first league opener.
