Kotoko returns to winning ways with WAFA win

Kumasi Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways by beating  West African Football Academy by a goal to nil in the week seven of the Ghana Premier league clash played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

 The Reds coming into this game with the aim of winning to maintain their chase of winning this year’s league after dropping points in Bolgatanga against All Stars last Sunday.

WAFA were exciting in the early stages of the game and managed to swing their passes together, but the Porcupine Warriors came into the game and exerted their control.

Chances came the way of both teams with Ollenu Ashitey coming close to scoring after he made his way into the box but failed to find the back of the net.

The Porcupines kept searching for the opener with many opportunities but it was winger Frank Sarfo Gyamfi who finally broke the deadlock after he powered  the hosts into the lead in the 65th minute to give his side all the three maximum points.

This results will leave Asante Kotoko on same points with Aduana Stars who drew against Medeama SC.

In other league games played today, league leaders Aduana Stars shared points with Medeama SC at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa while The Tema Sports Stadium saw Tema Youth beat Accra Hearts of Oak by 2-1. At the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi, Ashantigold returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Liberty Professionals.

In Tamale, Wa All Stars shared spoils with Ebusua Dwarfs with the game between Bechem United and Elmina Sharks ending in a barren draw.

Berekum Chelsea recorded a 1-0 win over Bolga All Stars at the Golden City Park whiles Olympics and Inter Allies played out a 1-1 draw game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
