West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) midfielder Majeed Ashimeru says he is working towards winning the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League (GPL) top goal scorer award.
Ashimeru has two goals to his credit, four goals adrift current top scorer Nicholas Gyan of Ebusua Dwarfs who has six goals out of the eight matches played.
The Midfielder scored a goal in his side’s 4-1 thrashing of defending champions Wa All Stars in an outstanding league match played on on Sunday at the Wa Park.
Ashimeru, who was full of joy,told reporters after the game that his main aim this season is to win the goal king award and also help his side to achieve greatness in the league.
“I’m working towards winning the top goal scorer of the season. It’s going to be tough because there are other players out there who want to achieve that but with hard work and determination, I will win that award with the help of my team mates.”
“To achieve my target I have to continue scoring for my side. I want to see my team in the top four.”
WAFA currently occupies the third position on the league log with 14 points out of a possible 24.
