Four North African clubs are in action this weekend in the first legs of the African Champions League semi-finals. Three of the sides, Al Ahly, Etoile du Sahel and Wydad Casablanca, are former African champions league winners while USM Alger have finished as runners-up. Egypt's Al Ahly, who are aiming for a ninth title, are in Tunisia to play Etoile du Sahel on Sunday in a repeat of the 2005 and 2007 finals. On Friday USM Alger of Algeria host Morocco's Wydad Casablanca. Zamalek name Montenegrin Nebojsa Jovovic as coach

Egyptian club Zamalek have announced that Montenegrin Nebojsa Jovovic has signed a two-year deal as coach. He replaces Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio who left the club in July after less than four months in charge. Jovovic impressed chairman Mortada Mansour after he helped Jordan's Faisaly reach the final of the Arab Champions Cup earlier this month. Faisaly beat Egyptian rivals Al Ahly twice en route to finishing as runners-up. Stoke City's Egyptian winger, Ramadan Sobhi, has signed a new five-year contract with the English Premier League club. The 20-year-old only joined Stoke last summer from Al Ahly in his homeland but he impressed in his 19 appearances during his maiden season and has been rewarded with an improved long-term deal. The Egypt Football Association (EFA) says fans can attend Al Ahly's remaining Champions League ties despite violence at Zamalek's match on Sunday. The incidents happened at Alexandria's Borg el-Arab Stadium as Zamalek crashed out of the tournament after a 2-2 draw with visiting Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya. Fans threw flares onto the pitch causing the game to be halted briefly as they were cleared away. After the final whistle the seats were ripped out and thrown onto the pitch. Frenchman Thierry Froger has left Democratic Republic of Congo’s TP Mazembe by mutual consent after just over one month in charge. The Congolese side based in the southern city of Lubumbashi are among 16 clubs demoted from the Champions League to the Confederation Cup last weekend after suffering round-of-32 loss to Zimbabwe’s CAPS United, and the club said coach Froger had not achieved his goal of reaching the CAF Champions League quarter-finals. Veteran Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary has won the best keeper award title in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Hadary won the title for the fourth time after previous successes in 2006, 2008 and 2010. The 44-year-old keeper conceded three goals in the tournament and also broke the record of the longest run without conceding a goal in the competition maintaining a clean sheet over 675 minutes in two Nations Cups before being beaten by a goal from Burkina Faso's Aristide Bance in the semi-finals. The Former Al Ahly shot stopper is also the oldest player to play in the AFCON at the age of 44.

Mohamed Aboutrika: Egypt adds Ex-footballer to terror list

Egypt has added ex-football star Mohamed Aboutrika to a terror list for his alleged links with the banned Muslim Brotherhood, his lawyer says. Mohamed Aboutrika is accused of financially supporting the Brotherhood, which Egypt considers a terrorist organization. In 2012, he endorsed the successful presidential bid by Mohamed Morsi, a Brotherhood member. The move by the 2008 BBC African Footballer of the Year alienated some of his fans. Any person named on the country's terror list is subject to a travel ban and faces having their passport and assets frozen. Mr Aboutrika's lawyer, Mohamed Osman, said the move was "contrary to the law", adding that his client had "not been convicted or formally notified of any of the charges against him". Egypt will be without the services of their Al Ahly defender Rami Rabia at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon because of injury. It is a blow for the Pharaohs who are back at Africa's showpiece football event after a seven year absence. The last time they featured at a finals - in Angola in 2010 - they were crowned champions for a record seventh time. Egypt will play in Group D of the Nations Cup in Gabon, alongside Ghana, Uganda and Mali. Ghanaian forward John Antwi,  has revealed that he may leave Egyptian side Al Ahly when his contract ends next year. The player has been in fine form since joining the North African side from Ismaily in 2015 last year. Reports coming out from Egypt reveals that the Ghanaian forward is close to leaving his club for an unknown Europe side when his contract comes to an end in next year. Antwi understand to have received a lot of offers in Europe but will decide on which one to join next year.  Martin Jol's side occupies the top spot of the Egyptian league after 15 games and with John Antwi set to leave,  it will be advisable for him to find a replacement.
