Senegal’s US Ouakam ban reduced to five years

The Disciplinary Committee of the Senegalese Professional League has reduced the suspension of US Ouakam from seven to five years. The club appealed against the ban for crowd trouble which left eight people dead during the League Cup final against Stade de Mbour in July. US Ouakam will still have to pay a fine of more than $18,0000. The 2011 champions will still have to play in the lowest tier of Senegalese football at the end of the ban.  Source: BBC

Sierra Leone FA bans 19 officials for life

Two officials banned for life by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) will not accept the sanction. The duo are among 19 officials banned on Thursday for violating SLFA and Fifa statutes concerning taking football related cases to civil courts. The group went to court last month to seek an injunction to stop the current executive running the SLFA. In July Fifa postponed the Sierra Leone FA congress and elections while integrity checks on candidates were carried out. Among those banned is Sanusi Bruski Kargbo, who had declared his intention to run against Isha Johansen in the next SLFA elections. Senegalese club US Ouakam gets seven years ban

The Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP) handed a seven-year ban to US Ouakam following the crowd trouble which left eight people dead during the League Cup final against Stade de Mbour last month. The LSFP's disciplinary committee said it holds US Ouakam "exclusively responsible" for the tragedy at the Stade Demba Diop on 15 July. US Ouakam were further punished with a demotion to the lowest tier of Senegalese football at the end of their seven-year suspension. The 2011 Senegalese League Champions have also been issued with a fine of 10 million francs (CFA) with Stade de Mbour being awarded the trophy as winners.
