Brighton and Hove Albion’s aim of signing Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena has been dashed after FC Zurich rejected their offer Sky Sports report. The English Premier League newbies are believed to be interested in the Ghana international who has been in top form for both club and country. Brighton are said to be interested in the striker who scored 12 goals in 18 appearance for Zurich after joining from Red Bull Salzburg. It is understood Brighton representatives met with the player on Wednesday night in a restaurant in Belgium to finalize the transfer, believed to be worth an initial £13.5m, potentially rising to £16m. His current contract with the Zurich-based club will ran out in summer 2020.

Nigeria youth international Taiwo Awoniyi has been sent for a third loan spell by his English club Liverpool. This time the 19-year-old, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for Liverpool, has joined Belgian club Mouscron for the season. The striker joined Liverpool on a long-term deal in August 2015 from Imperial Academy in Nigeria. He joins DR Congo's Jonathan Bolingi and Cameroon's Fabrice Olinga on loan at the club. Awoniyi, who helped his country win the Under-17 World Cup in 2013, spent last season on loan at Dutch side NEC Nijmegen. He also played at the 2015 Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand, netting twice and then helped Nigeria win the 2015 African Under-23 Championship in Senegal. Ghana winger Frank Acheampong has joined Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda FC on a season long loan deal from Belgian side Anderlecht. Acheampong impressed the Asian side after a succesful spell in the Europa League and the Belgian League in the ended season. Acheampong will be playing alongside former Nigeria Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel who joined the club last season. He could make his move permanent if he is able to impress in the Chinese Super League for his club. The former Ghana youth player has a little experience in Asia after previously playing in Thailand.

The defender had been playing at the Belgian club for the past five years, making a total of 43 appearances, although he had plans to move to the PSL in the near future. Ghana's Frank Acheampong has revealed that he dreams of playing in the English Premier League. Acheampong was a transfer target for Hull City last season but his Belgian club Anderlecht refused to do a deal. Former Belgium national coach, Marc Wilmots, has been appointed the manager of Ivory Coast, the country’s football federation said on its website on Tuesday. Wilmots, 48, was the Red Devils coach from 2012 to 2016, but was sacked following the elimination of the Belgians in the quarter-finals of the Euro tournament in France.
