Burkina Faso go to Cas over South Africa v Senegal 2018 replay

The Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) is appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) over the replaying of a World Cup tie. Fifa ordered the tie between South Africa and Senegal to be replayed due to "match manipulation" by the referee. South Africa won the match 2-1 and decided against appealing the order. The FBF says it "continues to oppose a decision that is tainted by abuse of power and irrelevant to the texts of the international football authority." The statement continued: "the federation, which relies on its declaration to appeal to the respect of the virtues of football, invites the Burkinabe sports public to the serenity and the mobilization around the Stallions." Cas confirmed it received the documents from the FBF for the appeal on 19 September. ...

Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau have crashed out of the 2017 West African Football Union (WAFU) competition after defeats to Niger and Guinea respectively. The two nations lost 2-1 each to their opponents on Sunday at the Cape Coast stadium in Ghana where the competition is taking place. Boubacar Soumana gave Niger the lead in the 33rd minute but was canceled in the 59th minute by substitute Dan Sansan before Garba Iddrissa restored the lead for Niger to end the game in their favor. Ghana’s home-based Black Stars have been forced to call off their first training session in Ouagadougou following the Burkina Faso Federation’s inability to provide the team a training field. Huge uncertainty surrounded the first training session of Ghana’s home-based Black Stars as Burkina Faso officials kept tossing the team around from one training center to another.
