The Round of 16 draw of the Sanford Women's FA Cup will be held at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Secretariat in Accra on Wedneday June 7. Defending champions Police Ladies beat second tier side Anlo Ladies 4-0 in the last round. Lady Strikers defeated Hasaacas Ladies in an all top-flight game in the Round of 32 with Samaria Ladies also edging past Soccer Intellectuals 4-3 on penalties after a goalless game. The biggest match of the last round also saw Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeat Fabulous Ladies 2-1, with Lepo Ladies recording an emphatic 8-2 win over FC Savannah. The draw for the last 16 stage of the MTN FA Cup competition was held today at the M-Plaza Hotel with Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko drawing Division One sides. The Phobians who are drawn in Zone 3 would play away to Accra Young Wise FC at the Zaytuna Park in Kasoa. Nine-times winners of the competition, Kumasi Asante Kotoko who are playing in Zone 2 will return to the Baba Yara Stadium to play host to Wassaman United in a tricky tie. The second edition of the Sanford Women's FA Cup competition was launched on Wednesday at the Ghana Football Association at a launching ceremony attended by GFA Vice President, George Afriyie. The competition, initiated last year and sponsored by internationally respected health care organization Sanford World Clinic, will involve all 16 National Women's League clubs and clubs representing the various regions. The preliminary round of the competition was played earlier this month to select the teams that will represent the regional league clubs in the round of 32 stage.
