Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has been appointed as the first Vice president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The leader of the Ghanaian football was confirmed as the first Vice President at the first meeting of the Ahmad Administration in Bahrain on Monday, as the second most powerful person in African football. Mr Constant Omari from Congo has also been named as 2nd Vice President of CAF with more appointments expected to be made at the Confederation's Executive Committee meeting. Mr Nyantakyi who was recently re-elected as a FIFA Executive Committee member also becomes the first Ghanaian to rise to second highest position in African Football
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) confirmed that the suspension of Mali's Football Association (FEMAFOOT) has been lifted by the sport's world body Fifa. Mali were originally banned from global football in March after the country's Sports Minister Housseïni Amion Guindo had dissolved the executive committee of FEMAFOOT. Fifa, who do not look kindly on government interference, had said the ban would only be lifted when the FEMAFOOT board was reinstated. On Saturday, Caf announced that a letter dated 28 April 2017 and signed by Fifa Secretary General Fatma Samoura had confirmed the reinstatement of FEMAFOOT's executive committee, thereby allowing Mali back into the international fold. Former Ghana youth midfielder Clifford Aboagye scored his first goal for Atlas FC in their 1-1 draw against Pumas UNAM in the Mexican League. The 2013 FIFA U20 Bronze Shoe winner opened his account for Atlas in the 15 minute and played the entire duration of the game. M. Britos levelled for the visitors after five minutes and both sides failed to add to the tally at the Estadio Jalisco Guadalajara. Atlas are now 7th on the Liga MX with 19 points after 13 matches gone already in the season and gradually climbing the league table. The Ghana Black Stars have moved up on the newly release Coca Cola/ FIFA ranking for the month of March. The senior national team move two places from the previous 43rd position to the 45th position. The slip on the table is as a result of Ghana’s failure to play a friendly game on the FIFA free day last month. Meanwhile the Stars are placed on eighth position on the African ranking behind Egypt, Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, DR Congo and Tunisia respectively. Brazil has returned to the first spot on the ranking after seven years of missing out. This come after the South Americans booked their place to the 2018 Russia World cup becoming the first country to do so.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has eulogized legendary Coach, Sam Arday, describing him as a technocrat in modern football management. Coach Arday died on February 12, 2017, at the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness. He will be laid to rest on April 7, 2017 at the Osu Cemetery. Coach Arday, who was affectionately called ‘The Multi System Man’, became famous after he led Ghana to win gold at the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Ecuador. Mali is facing a possible Fifa suspension after the country's sports minister missed a deadline to revoke his dissolution of the football federation's Executive Committee. Mali Sports Minister Housseini Amion Guindo took his action on Wednesday and duly installed an interim committee to lead the federation (Femafoot) until a new board can be elected. Femafoot informed Fifa the same day whereupon football's world governing body gave Mali until Friday to cancel the suspension or face possible consequences. Fifa outlaws governmental interference in the running of any of its member associations. Nigerian former Fifa executive Amos Adamu has been banned from all football activities for two years by the sport's world governing body. Fifa said "the sanction is effective from 28 February 2017". Adamu, who was previously banned for three years from October 2010 , has been punished for violating three articles of Fifa's Code of Ethics. The 64-year-old has been found guilty of violating general rules of conduct, loyalty and conflict of interest. Fifa said Adamu's misconduct relates to "his involvement in the organization of an event in 2010, while being a member of the (then) Fifa Executive Committee".
Ghana Black Stars arrived in the country yesterday evening after placing fourth in the 2017 AFCON held in Gabon. The Ghanaian players and technical team lead by Coach Avram Grant landed in the Kotoka Airport in Accra after placing fourth in the just ended competition. The Black Stars failed to ended their 35 year old trophy drought in Gabon after they were beaten 2-1 by Cameroon in the semi final. Ghana will now set sights on qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which would be held in Russia.
