The Ghana Black Stars B side takes on Guinea in opening group stage games of the 2017 WAFU Cup today at the Cape Coast Stadium. Ghana progressed to this stage following a last minute victory over Gambia in the opening knock out stage last Saturday. After relying on a last minute penalty to win their first game, Ghanaian fans will be hoping for an improved performance from the team as they take on the Guineans. Accra Hearts of Oak players resumed training this morning after a 12-day break to start preparations for the end of the league season. The team were given a 12-day break from training after the Ghana Premier League was put on a month break for the WAFU tournament. But the Phobians have now returned to training at their Ajax Park grounds in Legon to prepare for the remaining of the league games. The Phobians still have their eyes on the league title despite a 3-3 stalemate at home with Aduana Stars and are preparing tirelessly to make sure they don;t drop any points from their last four games.

Management of Accra Hearts of Oak has given the players a 12-day break from training as the Ghana Premier League goes on break. This decision by the team's management is because of the Premier League Board's decision to put the Ghana Premier League on hold for the WAFU tournament which begins on September 9th in the country. The Phobain lads are expected to resume training on September 11 at their training usual Ajax Park grounds at Legon in Accra. Five players from Hearts of Oak have been included in the provisional Black Stars B side for the WAFU tournament in Cape Coast.

Hearts of Oak skipper Thomas Abbey leads the Ghana Premier league goal scorers chart with 13 goals after 26 games. Abbey moved to to the top after scoring Hearts of Oak's second goal in thir 3-3 draw with Aduana Stars on Wednesday. Before the game, the budding winger was at the same number of goals with Bechem United's Ahmed Toure with 12 goals each. Ahmed Toure and Stephen Sarfo of Berekum Chelsea are second on the ladder with 12 goals whiles Nicholas Gyan of Ebusua Dwarfs and Hans Kwofie are third with 11 goals each. Medeama's Bernard Ofori and Joseph Paintsil of of Tema Youth occupies the fourth position with 10 goals each. The likes of David Abagna of Wa All Stars follows with 9 with WAFA's Daniel Agbloe Lomotey follows with 7 goals respectively.

As part of the club's Corporate Visit Tour, telecommunication giants MTN Ghana hosted Accra Hearts of Oak SC on Tuesday afternoon at their headquarters in Accra. Commercial Affairs Manager of the club Kwaku Sakyi Quashie accompanied by Alexander Blom (Planning Coordinator) and Anwar U. Larry (Social Media Manager) were at the MTN Ghana office to discuss partnership of mutual benefit between the two parties. MTN Chief Marketing Officer Asher Khan, R. Referee Emmanuel Dally Gabga will be "suspended" following his controversial decision to award Asante Kotoko a penalty in last Sunday’s Super Clash. According to Accra Hearts of Oak Administrative Manager, Hackman Aidoo, the Bolgatanga based official will face suspension for the decision. Kotoko leveled the scores in the 80th minute after referee Dally Gagba awarded them a controversial penalty, which was expertly converted by Saddick Adams to end the match in a 1-1 stalemate. “We all watched the game and after watching a referee, we see that some of the referees in Ghana are someway”, Hackman Aidoo said “What we have to do is to protest with the referees review to look into it and offer the due punishment for the referee but definitely, this referee will be suspended”, he
