Lukaku scores as Man Utd ruins Rooney home return

International News
Romelu Lukaku scored against his former club as Manchester United thrashed Everton to move joint top of the Premier League. Wayne Rooney's return to Old Trafford ended in a dismal defeat - embossed by three late goals - which sent Everton into the bottom three. The Toffees have endured a dire start to the season and have not scored a goal in any of four successive defeats in all competitions. Antonio Valencia smashed a shot past Jordan Pickford from 25 yards to put Jose Mourinho's side into an early lead which rarely came under threat. Rooney, United's record goalscorer, had Everton's two best opportunities but once he left the pitch with nine minutes to go his former employers hit overdrive. Lukaku found Henrikh Mkhitaryan to steer home before the Belgium striker bu...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic rejoins Manchester United

International News
Manchester United have re-signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a one-year contract. The 35-year-old former Sweden striker made 46 appearances and scored 28 goals for United last season. Ibrahimovic was RELEASED BY THE CLUB in June after his season was ended prematurely by a knee injury, but he is expected to be fit again in December. "After his contribution last season he deserves our trust and we will be patient waiting for him to return," said manager Jose Mourinho. Ibrahimovic, who initially joined the Red Devils on free transfer in July 2016, had been recuperating at United's training ground after knee surgery. Mourinho added: "We are delighted Zlatan is on the road to recovery and we are equally delighted to have his ambition and experience back with us. "I have no doubt tha...

Real Madrid beat Man United to win Super Cup

International News
Manchester United were outclassed as Spanish and European champions Real Madrid retained the Uefa Super Cup victory in a sweltering Skopje. Madrid dominated from the start and deservedly led when Casemiro - who looked offside - slid in a half volley. They doubled their lead when Isco calmly slotted in from eight yards after a neat one-two with Gareth Bale, who started ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo. New £75m striker Romelu Lukaku tapped in before Marcus Rashford scuffed wide. The Europa League winners were given encouragement by Lukaku's strike, despite rarely threatening the Madrid goal in the previous hour, and could have scored a barely deserved equaliser through half-time substitute Rashford with nine minutes left. United were unable to create another clear-cut chance as Mad

Jose Mourinho to rest players against Arsenal

International News
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he will rest players for Sunday's Premier League trip to Arsenal. United's 1-0 Europa League semi-final first-leg win at Celta Vigo on Thursday was their 10th game since 1 April. With Mourinho's side lying fifth in the Premier League, the Europa League could represent their best chance of reaching next season's Champions League. "The players that have accumulated lots of minutes are not going to play next weekend," said Jose Mourinho. Marcus Rashford's free-kick gave United victory in Spain, along with an away goal to take back to Old Trafford for next Thursday's second leg. If United reach the final in Stockholm on 24 May, it will be their 64th game of the season. Their stretched squad received a boost in Spain, with defender ...

Kante’s strike send Chelsea into FA Cup semis

International News
N'Golo Kante's second-half strike helped Chelsea squeeze past 10-man Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, and book their place in the FA Cup semi-final. Ander Herrera was sent off for two bookable offenses in the first half, with both yellows coming within the space of 15 minutes for challenges on Eden Hazard. Kante opened the scoring with his second goal of the season, striking a low effort beyond David de Gea, who had kept Chelsea at bay with a string of impressive saves. Chelsea will face Tottenham in their first semi-final since 2013, while Arsenal will take on Manchester City in the other last-four tie at Wembley. Manchester United started the match positively but it was Chelsea who carved out a couple of great opportunities to break the deadlock

Eric Bailly afcon selection frustrate Jose Mourinho

African Sports
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho voiced his frustration with Ivory Coast after they refused to delay Eric Bailly Africa Cup of Nations departure by 24 hours. Eric Bailly featured in United's starting XI in Saturday's 2-1 win over Middlesbrough and Mourinho was hoping the defender would be available to take on West Ham on Monday as well. But Mourinho told the club's website Ivory Coast's Coach Michel Dussuyer was not willing to take the risk as they prepare to defend their African title. "Bailly is leaving - he goes to the national team," said Mourinho. "He has to be with them on 2 January. We asked them for him to be on 3 January but they refused, so he cannot play against West Ham. "With these kind of decisions they are controlling every second, so for sure they
