Amos Frimpong's penalty was enough to send Kotoko to the MTN FA Cup semi final after victory over Nea Salamina at the Baba Yara Stadium. The Porcupine Warriors recorded a 2-1 win over the division one league side in game played on Wednesday. Kotoko grabbed the opener in the 12th minute thriugh Saddick Adams after a lovely run from Emmanuel Gyamfi on the right flanks. The local tier side warmed themselves into the game after conceding with a lot of chances which went wasted. Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah popularly known as lilwin has donated to Kumasi Asante Kotoko after their tragic accident. The Kumasi based actor presented drinks, Mineral water and among other things to club at their training grounds on Friday. The Porcupine Warriors were involved in an accident in Nkawkaw as they were returning to Kumasi after a defeat to Inter Allies in Accra. The accident left majority on the bus injured with deputy equipment officer Thomas Asare losing his life.

Referee Emmanuel Dally Gabga will be "suspended" following his controversial decision to award Asante Kotoko a penalty in last Sunday’s Super Clash. According to Accra Hearts of Oak Administrative Manager, Hackman Aidoo, the Bolgatanga-based official will face suspension for the decision. The former Ghana Premier League goal king revealed that he will grab the opportunity to play for the Phobians if they approach him. The Porcupine Warriors are putting up measures which will prepare them for the duel against their bitterest rivals in Kumasi this weekend. As part of measures to make the team ready for the game, the Reds thrashed lower side Natcoster FC 4-1 in a friendly game.
