The FA Cup trophy visited the secretariat of Asante Kotoko on Saturday October 14 as part of the road map to the grand finale of the competition. The porcupine warriors will face Hearts of Oak in the grand finale of the competition in a match dubbed "unmissable". Officials and players of Asante Kotoko received the giant trophy at the clubs Secretariat as they aim to win it for the 9th time. Earlier this week Official mascot for the competition, Mr Obia nye Obiaa escorted the trophy to the Hearts of Oak secretariat and some media houses such as Graphic, Times, Happy FM, Atinka FM etc as part activities leading to the grand finale. Asante Kotoko SC will allow free gate for women and students up to SHS level for their last premiership home game against Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara on Sunday. Asante Kotoko Head coach,Steven Polack has urged fans to remain positive and patient about the club's goal scoring rate. The scoring rate of the club has remained a major talking point among many fans especially now that the FA Cup clash with sworn-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, is on the horizon. Asante Kotoko striker Abass Mohammed would spend the rest of the season on the sidelines after picking up a knock to his knee during last Sunday's week 28 clash against Bechem United. The player will spend the last 2 to 3 weeks in the treatment room as he tries to get back to full fitness. "It is not as serious an injury as earlier feared. He picked up a knock on the knee, he's been examined and well treated. His leg has now been cast in a POP to help his recovery." the club's medical team confirmed to the club's website. The official mascot for the 2017 MTN FA Cup grand finale will be unveiled on Tuesday October 10 at 1pm. The ceremony which will be held at the Conference room of the GFA Secretariat in Accra will also see the tag line for final match officially announced. There will also photo opportunities with the mascot and the FA Cup trophy. Meanwhile, the FA Cup Committee will meet key stakeholders on Tuesday October 10 ahead of the grand finale of this year's MTN FA Cup competition. The Committee will meet the two finalists Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak as well as Star Times Ghana and title sponsors MTN and their activation agents EXP. The FA Cup Committee (FACC) will meet the supporters leadership of this year's finalists, Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC in separate meetings on Monday October 9. The two biggest teams in Ghana will face each other in the grand finale of the MTN FA Cup Competition scheduled for Sunday October 29 at the Tamale Stadium. The Committee led by its chairman Mr Kurt Okraku will meet Barima Atuahene and the entire leadership of National Chapters Committee (NCC) at the Hearts of Oak Secretariat in Asylum Down at 2pm on Monday. The Ghana Premier League Match day 27 midweek games involving Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC have been rescheduled to Thursday October 5 at 3:00pm. This decision is in light of the two teams replay of the MTN FA Cup semifinal match on Monday after it was rained off on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors will therefore face regional rivals Ashantigold on Thursday afternoon at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium whiles the match between Medeama and Liberty Professionals at the T & A Park in Tarkwa also on Thursday. All other Match day 27 matches will be played on Wednesday October 4 at 3:00pm at their respective venues as announced earlier.
