Striker Raphael Dwamena will miss Ghana's 2018 World Cup double header game against Congo after he was excused by coach Kwesi Appiah. The FC Zurich forward failed to secure a move to English Premiership side Brighton and Holve Albion due to a failed medical test. But after passing a new test conducted by his club, the player has now been advice to stay back for further assessment which means he will miss the Black Stars game. Dwamena was scheduled to join his colleagues on Wednesday but has now pull out after a request from his club. The former Red Bull Salzburg striker has scored five (5) goals and assisted four times in all competitions for FC Zurich after six games and has two goals for Ghana.

Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena will travel to the UK within the next 48 hours to undergo a medical ahead of his move to English Premier League side Brighton. Brighton have agreed terms of the move with his Swiss club FC Zurich to sign the Ghana international  for an undisclosed fee. The Seagulls  had an initial £8m bid for Dwamena rejected with Ghanasoccernet.com revealing that FC Zurich wanted 15m euros (£13.7m). The 21-year-old has also agreed personal terms, with the move subject to a work permit and international clearance. Dwamena will travel to the UK for the medical within the next two days before the deal is sealed. Brighton have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Zurich to sign Raphael Dwamena, with the fee believed to be around £12m. Sportsmail reported Brighton's opening £8m offer earlier this month and they have since tried for Cardiff City's Kenneth Zohore only to see a £9m bid rejected. Another option, Everton's Oumar Niasse is in talks to join Fenerbahce. The transfer of the 21-year-old is subject to a work permit and international clearance. Brighton and Hove Albion’s aim of signing Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena has been dashed after FC Zurich rejected their offer Sky Sports report. The English Premier League newbies are believed to be interested in the Ghana international who has been in top form for both club and country. The English side are said to be interested in the striker who scored 12 goals in 18 appearance for Zurich after joining from Red Bull Salzburg.   It is understood Brighton representatives met with the player on Wednesday night in a restaurant in Belgium to finalize the transfer, believed to be worth an initial £13.5m, potentially rising to £16m. Ghanaian forward Raphael Dwamena scored a hat trick as FC Zurich beat Goztepe S.K in their pre-season friendly. Dwamena scored three goals as his side put six past Turkish side Göztepe S.K at the Bolu Atatürk Stadium. The young chap two in the first half before completing his hat - trick in the dying embers of the game to give Zurich the needed win. Axel N'Gando got a consolation goal for the Turkish side with the match ending 6 -1 in favour of the Swiss side. Ghana Black Stars striker Raphael Dwamena has crowned the 2016/17 best footballer of the year by ’Ballers in God’ group. The player was awarded the accolade after his sterling performance for FC Zurich which saw them gain promotion into the Swiss top flight. The award which is initiated by a group of Christian footballers called ‘Ballers in God’ also has includes some of the big players across the world. Dwamena found the back of the net 12 times for FC Zurich and also helped his side win the league and also gain promotion for next season's Switzerland league. The Ghana Black Stars began their 2019 Afcon qualifier on a good note by beating Ethiopia 5 - 0 at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday evening. Skipper Asamoah Gyan shot the stars in front when he connected with a Thomas Agyepong's cross to put the ball in the net. Ghana got the second goal of the day when defender John Boye calmly controlled Raphael Dwamena's header into the penalty box before sending a drive at the top corner of their opponents net. Ghana Black Stars new boy Bernard Tekpetey is excited to have make the final 23 man list for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon. The Schalke 04 striker is one of the new faces named by Avram Grant for the CAF most biggest football festival on the African continent. Lorient forward Abdul-Majeed Waris and Raphael Dwamena were dropped by the Ghana coach in favor of the 19-year-old in the Black Stars' final 23-man squad. He tweeted: "I thank God and all Ghanaians for the opportunity given to me for making it to the 23 man squad, God is king of everything!!!"  Tekpetey has made appearances for the Royal Blues in the DFB Cup, Europa League and has one league appearance under his belt with a goal.

Ghanaian fans have applauded the inclusion of young goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi in the Black Stars. The former U-20 goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has been given a call up by coach Avram Grant ahead of the African cup of nations tournament in Gabon. Zigi's performance for his club earned him a place into the Red Bull Salzburg’s first team after his impressive performance with the team B. The youngster trained with the Black Stars at the St Thomas Aquinas park yesterday and fans have lauded the technical team for including him. The impressive shot stopper represented  Ghana at the U-20 level at the 2015 FIFA World Youth Championships in New Zealand.
