Liverpool have lost their appeal over the length ban of Sadio Mane's three-match red card ban in Saturday's 5-0 defeat at Manchester City. Mane was dismissed in the 37th minute after catching City goalkeeper Ederson in the face with a high foot. He will now miss Premier League matches against Burnley and Leicester, as well as a trip to the latter in the EFL Cup. The excessive punishment claim was rejected following an independent regulatory commission hearing. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said on Saturday that neither he nor City counterpart Pep Guardiola thought Mane should have been sent off. Ghanaian defender Harrison Afful was red carded in the Major League Soccer game for Columbus Crew played at the Orlando City Stadium on Saturday evening. The Ghana Black Stars right back and former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player was given the matching orders in the 77th minute for violent conduct on a player in the game. In that same game, two other Ghanaian players Mohamed Abu former of Manchester City and Lalas Aboubakar were also given yellow cards with the only spared Ghanaian being defender Jonathan Mensah. All three Ghanaian players lasted the entire duration of the game which ended 1-1.
