Sanford FA Cup semi-finals to be played this weekend

The semi-final matches of the Sanford FA Cup will be played over the weekend in Accra and Sunyani respectively. Police Ladies and Immigration Ladies will clash at the Asamoah Gyan park at Accra Academy High School on Saturday, while Prison Ladies play Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Saturday. As promised by the sponsors, Sanford World Clinics, there will be a health screening exercise for both players and female spectators who turn up for the game in Accra. Sanford Women’s FA Cup draw to be held tomorrow

The Round of 16 draw of the Sanford Women's FA Cup will be held at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Secretariat in Accra on Wedneday June 7. Defending champions Police Ladies beat second tier side Anlo Ladies 4-0 in the last round. Lady Strikers defeated Hasaacas Ladies in an all top-flight game in the Round of 32 with Samaria Ladies also edging past Soccer Intellectuals 4-3 on penalties after a goalless game. The biggest match of the last round also saw Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeat Fabulous Ladies 2-1, with Lepo Ladies recording an emphatic 8-2 win over FC Savannah. Women FA Cup to be launched on Wednesday

The second edition of the Sanford Women FA Cup competition will be officially launched on Wednesday May 17 at the GFA Secretariat in Accra at 11am prompt. The competition, sponsored by an internationally respected health care organization Sanford World Clinic, will involve all 16 National Women's League clubs and clubs representing the various regions. The preliminary round of the competition was played earlier this month to select the teams that will represent the regional league clubs in the round of 32 stage. Sanford World Clinic signed a four-year agreement worth GH¢1.1million with the Ghana Football Association with an interest in helping the GFA develop the talents of young girls across the country through football.
