Ivory Coast Seydou Doumbia out for two months for diving

Ivory Coast Seydou Doumbia is facing two months on the sidelines after injuring himself diving trying to win a penalty for his Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon. He is set to miss the Elephants' final two 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Morocco. Ivory Coast's Belgian coach Marc Wilmots confirmed Doumbia had torn a tendon. Doumbia was shown a yellow card for diving and limped off the pitch during Sporting's European Champions League defeat by Barcelona. The 29-year-old went down on the edge of the area as he tried to go past Gerard Pique and then stayed on the ground needing treatment from the Sporting medical team. Liverpool are in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a deal for forward Gelson Martins as they fear being priced out of a move for Roma's Mohamed Salah. Reports in Portugal claim Martins, 22, is the Reds' latest target as talks over Salah stalled after Liverpool's opening offer of £28m was rejected.
