Italy have sacked coach Giampiero Ventura after the four-time champions failed to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1958. The Azzurri lost a play-off with Sweden 1-0 on aggregate to spell the end of 69-year-old Ventura's 17-month tenure. Ventura said his record was "one of the best of the last 40 years". "I lost only two games in two years," he told Italian television show Le Iene before the Italian Football Federation fired him on Wednesday. After lifting the trophy four times, Gian Piero Ventura's side will have to wait at least four years for another opportunity after missing out on Russia 2018. For the first time since 1958, Italy won't be participating in a World Cup. Ghanaian player Patrick Kpozo marked his debut for Ostersund's 1-1 draw with Sundsvall in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Sunday. The Young Ghanaian Patrick Kpozo played his first game for his side few days after switching camp from another Swedish giants AIK to Ostersund. The former player of Ghana Premier League side Inter Allies played 73 minutes for his side before he was replaced by midfielder Gabriel Somi for the remaining minutes of the game. Swedish giants IFK Göteborg have loaned former Ghana midfielder Lawson Sabah to Swedish second-tier side Varberg Bois. Lawson Sabah joined IFK Gothenburg from Inter Allies in Ghana at the beginning of the 2015 season but has enjyed limited playing time. Accra Great Olympics coach Tom Marcus Strand has been ordered by the Ghana Football Association Status Committee to pay GH¢34,000 to his former club Medeama SC. According to the Committee, the Swedes has default his contractual agreement with the Tarkwa-based club.
