Former Cameroon captain, Rigobert Song, who suffered a brain aneurysm ten months ago, is preparing for his first coaching mission with the home-based national Cameroon side. The local Indomitable Lions are away to Sao Tome and Principe on Saturday in the first leg of the latest round of qualifiers for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) - a tournament which is contested by footballers playing in their own domestic league. Injury worries for Senegal as Sakho pulls out of AFCON

West Ham and Senegal striker Diafra Sakho will miss the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after being ruled out for up to eight more weeks with a back injury. The Hammers said on 30 November the 26-year-old would be missing for six weeks because of a thigh injury, meaning he would not return until mid-January. But boss Slaven Bilic said on Thursday that Sakho faced up to eight more weeks out, taking him to mid- February. The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations starts on 14 January. Two years ago, Sakho withdrew from Senegal's squad with a back injury but scored 18 days later in West Ham's FA Cup 1-0 win at Bristol City. Dede Ayew misses out on CAF player of the year top five shortlist

Deputy Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew has missed out on this year’s Confederations of African Football (CAF) African Best Player Award after he failed to make the shortlist released by the CAF . Ayew was tipped by many to make the final list of five looking at the performance he exhibited in the English Premier League last season with Swansea City. The 25- year old carved a niche for himself in the English League after joining from French side Olympic Marseille where he became one of the pillars in the teams set up and propelling them to a 12th placed finishing last season. The former Ghana Youth star scored 12 goals for the club with most of his goals coming against the top clubs in the English Premier League like Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.
