Athletico Madrid Midfielder Thomas Partey, sent an apology to the Ghanaian fans on their failure to win the 2017 AFCON held in Gabon as they were tasked to do.
The Black Stars led by Coach Avram Grant were tasked to win this years trophy to end their 35 year old trophy drought but failed to do after they were beaten 2 -1 by Cameroon in the semi final.
And Partey who played in midfield for the Black Stars took to his facebook page to render an unqualified apology for the disappointment of not winning the coveted trophy.
“It was the dream and wish of all Ghanaians to win the prestigious cup of AFCON 2017 but unfortunately we couldn’t attain that goal . We are sorry for disappointing all Ghanaians around the world who have given us the massive support and rallied behind us since day 1.”
“Nevertheless all I can say is a big thank you to Ghana for giving me this opportunity to serve my beloved country. All is not lost and we hope to come back strongly the next time and bring joy to the faces of all Ghanaians.” Thomas Partey posted.
Ghana has for the past 12 years been to six successive semi finals but are yet to win the trophy.
They last won it in 1982 and has since appeared in three finals in 1992, 2010 and 2015.
